Clothing, Bags, Shades & Other Hoity-Toity Things
The stuff that says you made it...or at least that you'd like people to think so. This is the corner of the collection for the labels people wear on the outside: the tailored lines, the Louis Vuitton monogram on a handbag worth more than the car it's being photographed next to, the sunglasses that cost more than the flight to the shoot. Print advertising is where these houses did their real seducing, long before the algorithm did it for them. A single spread, the right supermodel, the right lighting, or the right one-word tagline could set the tone for an entire season.
Every piece here is an authentic vintage print ad — pulled from the magazine it originally ran in, not a reproduction or a reprint.
Each one is a little time capsule of taste: what "aspirational" looked like in its era, right down to the typeface and the pose the supermodel was told to hold. Frame one and hang it anywhere you'd want a reminder that style is always of its time.
Wear it well,
Rob
